The draw occurred at the Dream Home with several members of the public watching as we built our way up to the last ballot for the Dream Home.  We called the Hillman household to verify they were home and quickly drove over to give them the news.  The convoy proceeded to the dream home to begin the New Years Celebration.

Thank You to everyone who purchased tickets, and to all the trades, sponsors, media, K40, Kinettes and the Kinsmen volunteers.  With out this group effort and community commitment  this great event would not be possible.

Ho Ho Ho, Santa is at the Dream Home!!

Not only do we have great stocking stuffers available but we also have the "stocking stuffer" himself... Santa!!

Dream Home Seniors Light Tour Tonight!

Tonight the Kinettes and the Kinsmen join together for the Seniors Light Tour.

 

“We are pleased to able to partner with the Kinsmen again for the Seniors Light Tour.” says Lisa Martin, Kinette and tour organizer.  “Every year the Kinettes work side by side the Kinsmen with the dream home project, and many others.  The Seniors light tour is a real fun event for us and a true feel good project” Says Lisa.  “We don’t charge a fee what so ever, it’s our opportunity to say thanks and show appreciation to the seniors of Red Deer.  Many of whom have great deal of difficulty getting out this time of year.” 

 

“We’re asking for some help from the residents of Red Deer.  Please turn on your lights this evening after work.  The more lights the better.  Leave your lights on put the kids in the car and go on a tour your self.  It’s a great way to take some time and connect with family and have a break from the busy season.”  Added Lisa.

 

The Kinettes and the Kinsmen depart from the Golden Circle and make various stops at some of the local Senior Centers then proceed touring Red Deer looking at all of the fantastic Christmas Light Displays.   Following the tour, the Kinettes invite the seniors to enjoy some refreshments at the Golden Circle.

 

We ask for some help from the residents of Red Deer to turn their lights on after work as our first busses hit the road at 5:30.  Help show your Christmas Spirit and turn your lights on.  See you at the dream home this weekend.

Dream Home Supports Youth and Volunteer Centre with help from Santa (Tuesday, December 11, 2007)

“We are pleased to be able to partner with Shaw and the Youth and Volunteer Centre (YVC), this weekend with a special Christmas Tribute” says Scott Bourke, 2007 Dream Home Committee Member. “This weekend we have an extra special treat for families when they visit the Dream Home; Santa and our good friends from Shaw will be there.” Says Bourke. “The Kinsmen have been long time supporters of the YVC in particular by helping fund Camp Alexo annually for the past few decades. This year $10.00 from each ticket sold during the week will benefit the Youth and Volunteer Centre and help send kids to Camp Alexo”.

Shaw and the Shaw Bear program are ideal fits with the Kinsmen both are family focused and community driven organizations. The Kinsmen are very pleased to have Shaw as a sponsor of the Dream Home this year.

This weekend at the Dream Home get your picture taken with Santa. Also, the Shaw Bear will be on site handing out “Shaw Bears” to kids visiting the Dream Home.

Dream Home Supports Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter (C.A.W.E.S) (Tuesday, December 4, 2007)

“We are proud to help women and children in crisis through our partnership with Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter (C.A.W.E.S).” says Chris Litzenberger, 2007 Dream Home Advertising Chair. “C.A.W.E.S is a charitable organization serving the Central Alberta area. Their safe, secure home-like shelter located within Red Deer currently houses up to thirty six women and children at any one time for a maximum stay of 21 days or longer in special circumstances.” Says Litzenberger. “The Kinsmen have been long been promoters and supporters of safe communities for kids to grow up and play. We’re just doing our part and proud to do so.”

C.A.W.E.S clients include women who are battered (physically, psychologically, sexually, and emotionally) with or without children and in need of temporary safe refuge from family violence and whose health and safety would be threatened if they remain in the family home. Women and their children in crisis, experiencing homelessness or in an emergency situation and without viable alternatives are eligible for shelter services.

“C.A.W.E.S operates its many programs and services with the support of an experienced team of over 30 full and part-time staff and fifty plus dedicated volunteers. We are proud to belong to a community of caring partners, who all share in our mission to provide safe refuge for women and children, assisting people to achieve their full potential free from family violence.” Commented Tara Heppell.
